Designed with commercial and hospitality applications in mind (bars, restaurants, schools, fitness centers, etc.), JVC's 20-inch AV-20F475 stereo television packs a one-two punch of stylishness and affordability that will likely endear it to individual consumers as well. It's loaded with innovative theater-oriented features like black-level expansion and a Real Flat CRT with an Invar shadow mask to render detailed, high-contrast images with no geometric distortion. The set's stereo speakers are powered by a generous 7.5 watts each. The AV-20F475's 3-line digital comb filter enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). A shadow mask is a thin sheet of perforated metal behind the screen that restricts electron flow, each hole in the sheet corresponding to a single pixel. An Invar mask uses an alloy that's especially resistant to the high temperatures generated by the electron beam, allowing in a brighter, clearer picture. An Apacon circuit further enhances low-level details for greater picture sharpness. With 16:9 raster compression mode, you can watch anamorphic DVDs in their true 16:9 format--the TV uses all scan lines for the picture within the letter box area so that anamorphic widescreen DVDs display in their proper resolution. The AV-20F475 receives not only stereo broadcasts, but Second Audio Programming (or SAP), too, and you always have Hyper Surround to simulate surround sound from any two speakers. BBE High-Definition Audio improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages. Top-of-the-line component-video inputs accept video from compatible DVD players and satellite systems, while S-video and standard RCA composite-video inputs accommodate most other video sources. The set offers a total of 3 audio/video inputs, one of which is built into the front panel so you can hook up a VCR, camcorder, or gaming console. A rear-panel RF input accommodates older VCRs, cable boxes, and antennas. Want to listen through your stereo system? Use the set's stereo, fixed-level analog-audio outputs.
